UK Patent Library Network

Did you know BIPC Northamptonshire is also a member of the UK Patent Library Network? Working with the Intellectual Property Office (IPO), they provide users with local access to patent, trade mark, designs and copyright information.  

Last week representatives from the 25 centres met for their AGM at the wonderful Library of Birmingham. Attendees had presentations from representatives from the IPO and also the European Patent Office. There are PATLIBs across Europe – over 300 in total! 

Why Intellectual Property matters 

Whatever the size of your business, it’s worthwhile checking what intellectual property (IP) you own. Every business will own some form of intellectual property, but do you know how to protect these assets? It’s also important to ensure you don’t infringe other people’s IP.

The IPO also provides a range of online tools to help you take the first steps in discovering more about your IP. The IP Health Check online tool is free to use and is a great starting point.
