We’re excited to introduce the inspiring entrepreneurs from West and North Northamptonshire who have been awarded start-up grants of £2,000 through the Business & IP Centre Northamptonshire’s Build Your Business Programme.
The Build Your Business programme consists of five comprehensive modules covering key areas of running a business. These modules, delivered by specialist partners, include marketing, business growth, financial planning and personal development for business owners. Additionally, the programme offers 1-2-1s, workshops, mentoring, and access to specialist business databases.
Upon completing the programme’s modules, eligible businesses have the opportunity to apply for a £2,000 start-up grant. Leveraging the knowledge acquired from the programme, they must submit a business plan as part of this competitive application process.

Ami & Martin – WHATSUP Training
WHATSUP Training was founded by Ami and Martin with a vision of providing high-quality coaching and training in Standup Paddleboarding (SUP) for all ability levels within Northamptonshire. Combining many years of experience in vocational training and SUP, they help people gain self-confidence, develop paddle skills, and increase water safety awareness. Their fun and engaging training sessions are tailored for individuals, private groups, commercial team building, and staff wellness events, both on and off the water.
Currently, WHATSUP Training is the first and only company to become a Paddle UK Delivery Partner in Northamptonshire. This official partnership with the sport’s governing body highlights their commitment to upholding high standards in safety, value for money, and customer service. It also allows them to offer recognised awards and qualifications, ensuring quality SUP training.
Clare & Yvette - Believe & Achieve Business Academy
We asked 100 business owners what they would want in a business academy…then we designed ours!
Firstly, A twelve-month online business academy for highly motivated business owners who are looking to grow their business, delivered directly via an App.

Nam's dream has always been to own and run her own salon, we decided to convert 2 huge unused showroom areas at our warehouse into "Tara Beauty Therapy", 3 beauty stations, 6 nail stations, 2 state-of-the-art massaging pedicure chairs and 3 dedicated private beauty rooms for treatments including waxing, massage and aesthetics.
Heidi - Hartbeeps Kettering
I am Heidi Abrams-Male, the new owner of Hartbeeps Kettering, a long-standing, award-winning company that offers baby classes for children under five and their grown-ups. These classes are designed for all children to take part in and benefit from the joy of singing, puppetry, musical play, and make-believe. I run classes in Desborough and Orlingbury, and starting in September, Thrapston. I also offer party sessions for little ones.
With eighteen years of experience working with pre-school children, I find joy in watching them grow and shine. As a local mum to two cheeky children, I was first introduced to Hartbeeps five years ago with my daughter and more recently with my son. The magical classes led by the wonderful class leaders made me fall in love with everything that Hartbeeps brings.

Stuart founded Medi8 Therapy, a private practice based in Daventry since November 2023, now serving all of Northamptonshire. Specialising in solution-focused therapy, particularly in marriage guidance and couples/relationship counselling. He takes a personalised approach to support each client, respecting that every relationship is unique. Medi8 Therapy provides a compassionate, non-judgmental, and dedicated space where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings comfortably.
This project is part-funded using £300,000 from the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
