I’m Lisa Scott, a digital marketer who’s been in the industry for the last ten years. I have always dabbled in social media and marketing since I was a teenager and any opportunity, work experience or chance to write I took it. I studied a Journalism degree in London after moving from Suffolk and when I graduated, I moved to Northamptonshire with my now-husband. I’ve lived here for 8 years now and really do feel at home in this bustling county.
The Media Type was born after a five year career as an editor and digital marketer within an agency. I loved being part of the local business community and decided to take the plunge for the second time and go freelance. This time, with more knowledge, understanding and experience ready to run as a full business.
The Media Type is a marketing agency offering social media and website management, copywriting and content support. I work with a variety of clients but mostly support lifestyle businesses. The business offers a people focused approach with our content creation and paired with my love of words, it’s a lovely combination.
The Build Your Business Programme helped me focus on my business plan which I was scared to consider before. The webinars gave me a better understanding of what should, and shouldn’t, be in one. It was also important for me to face my fears of the numbers that naturally need to be considered when running a business and planning for the future.
The grant will help The Media Type to offer better quality when it comes to content creation. The grant is going towards a new SLR camera and accessories to enhance the content I produce for my clients. This will mean sharper photos, luxury look and improved video quality which is a really exciting addition to my kit. The programme really has motivated me to believe in myself and my business plans and this can happen now I can take my content to the next level.
