Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is back for 2022!
Having originally been launched in 2008, with the focus of uniting the global community of entrepreneurs, this year is set to see over 35,000 events take place - at the same time - in 125 different countries.
The Global Entrepreneurship week initiative has four distinct themes for 2022:
Education: Creating a focus on the learning opportunities entrepreneurs have around them. This is not only for today but for the next generation of entrepreneurs, with the GEW website providing activities and resources to encourage students to consider entrepreneurship as part of their future path.
Eco Systems: Inspiring positive collaboration between both established businesses and new start ups. Sharing knowledge and working together during times of challenge can bring mutual benefit to both businesses.
Inclusion: Highlighting the work that those within the sector are doing around the world to minimize barriers to entry for new entrepreneurs, and to help remove diversity obstacles for entrepreneurs by maximizing inclusion.
Policy: Focusing a spotlight on the work of governments and policymakers to support the start up and growth of new business ventures.
The perception of entrepreneurship is something which varies greatly across the world and through different cultures – some enter into the business world with the ambition of status, control and wealth, whilst others find themselves having to find methods of generating their own income simply to survive.
Culture and environment can play a big role in the acceptance of individuals to become entrepreneurs. The USA is generally accepted as one of the best countries in the world for providing an enabling and resourced environment for its citizens to start up in business.
That said the UK is not far behind, with many local and national support services available to help get their business ideas off the ground. Northamptonshire has consistently been ranked in the top 5 locations in the country for new start up business creation.
The Business & IP Centre Northamptonshire is here to help, whether you are just starting out, need advice on protecting your intellectual property or are ready to take the next step in your business journey. We offer support from that first spark of inspiration to successfully launching and developing a business, with free webinars, workshops and one-to-one business and intellectual property advice sessions as well as an extensive collection of market research databases.
