From Idea to Brand: How BIPC Helped Phlame Grow and Develop

Starting a business is both exciting and challenging. My name is Eugene, and I am the founder of Phlame, a brand that creates unique, high-quality, and affordable scented candles and home fragrances in Corby.

Like many entrepreneurs, I started with an idea and a passion, but turning my hobby into a successful business required guidance and support. That’s where the BIPC Northamptonshire Build Your Business programme played a crucial role in my journey.

How the Idea for Phlame Was Born

I have always loved the creative process and appreciated high-quality fragrances. One day, after making a candle by hand, I realized that this wasn’t just a hobby—it was an opportunity to create something special for people. The market is filled with candles, but I wanted to offer more than just a product—I wanted to create a story, an atmosphere, an emotion.

However, having a great idea is just the beginning. I needed to understand legal requirements, marketing, finances, and build a solid business strategy. That’s where the BIPC programme helped me tremendously.

Invaluable Support from BIPC

When I joined the Build Your Business programme, I had no idea how much valuable knowledge and support I would gain.

The programme helped me:

  • Develop and structure my business plan, identifying my strengths and weaknesses.

  • Understand financial and legal aspects, ensuring my business was set up correctly.

  • Build a strong brand strategy and effectively position my products in the market.

  • Receive expert guidance and practical advice, helping me avoid common pitfalls.

But the biggest breakthrough came when I won a £2,000 grant, which was a real lifesaver for my business! Thanks to this funding, I was able to purchase new branding equipment, invest in new candle molds, and prepare new collections for Easter and Mother’s Day.

For a young business, support like this is a breath of fresh air, making it possible to grow and bring ideas to life.

New Opportunities for Customers

After receiving the grant, I also opened a new workshop, where visitors can now come by appointment to see my candles in person and explore different fragrances before making a purchase.

Location: Phlame Workshop, Corby, Danesholme (by appointment) Booking phone number: 01536 505 182

If someone is unable to visit on their own, I also offer a free transfer service upon prior arrangement.

The Future of Phlame

There’s so much more to come! I’m excited to launch new spring collections and to delight both existing and new customers with unique fragrances and stylish designs. I am always happy to welcome new visitors and look forward to having each of you as my customer!
